I recently set up my office in downtown Ogden in the Old Post Office Building. I chose to come to Ogden because I love the intermingling of the old and the new, the opportunities, and the direction that the city is headed.
I really enjoy historic 25th Street with its unique, eclectic, fun, and interesting shops, restaurants, and the entertainment providers. I enjoy the restaurants found in the downtown area both in the Junction and on 25th Street. I like that the downtown area has few chain stores or restaurants and that most establishments are local business owners like myself. I like the new development situated with the older buildings in the downtown area that provide character. I am looking forward to the opportunities in establishing a business in this community and also that I am the only commercial appraiser established in Weber County.
Although I live in Farmington, I can take the train or bus into Ogden fairly quickly. My office is just a few minutes walk from the transportation hub on Wall Avenue. All of the downtown area is within a few minute walk from the hub. Moreover, buses come back and forth frequently throughout the day to Weber State University and other destinations.
I like that Ogden is a college town, that it has a professional baseball team, that it is within a few minutes drive to a few ski resorts, has an airport with commercial flights, is close to Salt Lake International Airport, has a good mix of businesses with service, manufacturing, and white collar, and that there is a wide diversity of good people.
Ogden started a change many years ago with the demolition of the Ogden Mall. Much renovation has taken place including the new temple, new multi-family developments, the Junction, and the River development on the south side of Ogden River and north of 20th Street. Historic 25th Street has evolved into a must see destination. Moreover, the city and Weber County are continually bringing in new companies that are creating several jobs. Ogden has received many accolades from magazines, newspapers, and other organizations. I like the city and the direction its going.
